Calvin projected to repeat last year's 34-31 win over Trine
Calvin and Trine have been down this road before. The two met in October of last season, and Calvin came away with a 34-31 win. Versus's model likes the exact same outcome this time, projecting Calvin 34, Trine 31, and giving the Knights a 58 percent chance to win a game that counts in the MIAA standings.
Calvin arrives at 7-0, the best record in all of college football, and the model has rewarded that with an 81-spot climb this season, from No. 99 to No. 18 in Division III. The Knights carry an A grade across overall, power, offense and defense, though a strength of schedule rank of 118 suggests that undefeated mark has come against lighter competition.
Trine is 6-1 and No. 32 in Division III, with an A offense ranked 24th nationally in the division but a B+ defense at 64th, the kind of split Versus flags as an offense-driven profile. Four of Trine's seven wins have come by 21 points or more, so the Thunder know how to put games away when their offense gets rolling. With both teams playing at an A grade overall, this one carries real weight in the conference race.
