California PA's soft schedule looms as Shepherd hosts a projected pick'em

The clearest gap between these two 2-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference clubs is not on the field, it is on the schedule sheet. California PA's slate ranks 136th in Division II strength of schedule, while Shepherd's sits at 91st, a wide split for two teams that meet as conference opponents on Saturday.

On paper California PA looks like the stronger team elsewhere. The Vulcans carry an A- grade in every category and rank 26th in power, 24th in offense and 36th in defense within D2, all ahead of Shepherd's 44th, 34th and 56th marks despite the Rams matching them with an A- overall grade of their own. Versus gives California PA a 54 percent win probability and projects a 30-28 final, the tightest of margins.

Shepherd brings its own weight into the game. The Rams have won nine straight going back to October 2025 and have not lost at home in six games over that same stretch, a run this matchup will test directly.
