West Virginia looks to snap Oklahoma State's recent series hold
Oklahoma State has won 8 of the last 10 meetings with West Virginia and still leads the all-time series 9-4, but Versus gives the Mountaineers a real chance to change that trend this week. West Virginia enters at 3-0 and has improved its Versus power rating in each of the last four weeks, climbing to a season-best No. 36 in FBS, 20 spots ahead of Oklahoma State's No. 56.
Oklahoma State, at 2-1, still carries the more eye-catching résumé line, having upset Oregon, currently No. 22 in FBS, and following that with a 59-0 rout of Murray State that was its most lopsided win since September 2012. The Cowboys are graded a B overall with matching B grades on both sides of the ball, but their No. 94 strength-of-schedule rank in FBS is far softer than West Virginia's No. 87.
West Virginia's A- offense and B+ defense both grade out ahead of Oklahoma State's B- overall mark, and Versus projects a 30-26 home win with a 61 percent chance to cover that margin. This is a Big 12 Conference game, so the result carries standings weight for both sides as they try to build on their early-season starts.
