Fairmont State chases a 10th straight series win over Concord
Fairmont State has won nine of the last ten meetings with Concord and hasn't lost to the Mountain Lions since September 2016, a run that has built an 11-7 series edge since 2007. Versus's model likes that trend to continue Saturday, projecting Fairmont State to win 35-31 in a Mountain East Conference game that counts in the standings for both sides.
The records on paper point the other way. Concord sits 6-3 and 94th in Division II, graded C overall with a B- offense, while Fairmont State is 3-6 and 114th in the division, graded C- overall with a more modest C+ offense. Concord also carries a No. 2 standing within the Mountain East itself. But Fairmont State has improved its Versus power rating in each of the last three weeks, closing the gap in the power ranks to 102nd against Concord's 109th.
Concord arrives off a 25-47 loss to Wheeling U. that snapped a four-game winning streak, and Versus notes the Mountain Lions have actually scored more points on the road than at home this season, an odd wrinkle given this one is in Fairmont State's building. The Falcons, still winless away from home at 0-5, get to play this one at home instead, and Versus gives Fairmont State a 60 percent chance to make it ten series wins in the last eleven.
