Campbell's 89-spot climb aims to flip history on Stony Brook
The last time these two met, in September 2024, Stony Brook came away with a 24-17 win. Two years later the programs look nothing alike. Campbell enters this one having climbed 89 spots in the Versus FCS rankings this season, from No. 109 all the way to No. 20, and its 7-2 start is the best the program has put together in Versus records dating to 2008.
The Camels back that run up with an A- overall grade, an A- offense and a B defense, all while sitting 20th in FCS. Their power grade of B+ reflects a team that has been competitive across most of its schedule, even with a strength of schedule rank of just 93.
Stony Brook is no pushover at 5-4 and 63rd in FCS, carrying a B+ offensive grade that ranks 36th nationally in that category. But the Seawolves lean heavily on home cooking, scoring noticeably better in their own building than on the road this season, which cuts against them traveling into this one. Their C defense and 82nd-ranked defensive unit will be tested by a Campbell offense playing at a near career-best level.
Versus projects Campbell to win 37-27, giving the Camels a 73 percent chance, and the result counts in the CAA standings. History favored Stony Brook two years ago, but the numbers now point the other way.
